This silk charmeuse scarf is the most classic and versatile accessory ever. It certainly brings a touch of elegance to an outfit, but I invite you not to reserve its use for special moments. Every moment has the power to be special and this silk accessory is perfect to remind us of that!
This scarf is hand dyed in my workshop with plants. This process makes it a 100% natural accessory that can even return to the earth at the end of its life since naturally dyed silk is totally biodegradable.
What is charmeuse silk?
Charmeuse silk is considered to be more enveloping than habotai silk. Soft and opaque, it has a glossy finish. It keeps cool in the summer and warm in colder weather. Its virtues for the skin make it a recommended fabric for the pillowcase.
We quickly fall in love with this type of silk!
How to use your silk scarf?
Often used around the neck as a scarf, it can also be used as a hair accessory or as an improvised garment depending on its size. Silk scarves make beautiful altar cloths for those who want to create a sacred space to place precious objects or can be used as a wall decoration when not in use.
Color Stability
Vegetable dyes are living and some colors may soften or lighten over time. However, I take care to prepare the fabrics so that the color is as long lasting as possible and, unless otherwise specified, the pigments chosen are those with good stability over time. With the right care, your piece will have a long life! It is recommended not to let your scarf dry in the sun, to wash it only when necessary and to use a neutral pH soap.
A unique and perfectly imperfect piece
The vegetable dyeing process allows you to create unique pieces. Because of its nature, it is possible to find subtle marks or stains on its piece from flowers, leaves, roots and more. These marks contribute to the uniqueness of the piece and correspond to the idea of "perfectly imperfect".
Eco-responsibility
The dye baths are made from elements picked in the Lower St. Lawrence with my mini, flowers saved from compost after an event or pigments purchased from retailers who grow their own plants or source them ethically. I try to develop a work process that is as responsible and sustainable as possible, as much in terms of choosing suppliers as in the making and packaging.
